Worthy Causes

Here are some organizations and movements that I am particularly fond of, some I work with from time to time. If you are looking for a place to invest your money or time, these are the places to do it. 

 

Children At Risk
I absolutely love these guys. They work in so many ways in their community. From building home for those to have none, to getting micro loans for people with no way to support themselves, to caring for children on a daily basis. This organization is small but mighty, and doing amazing things where they are at. 

Steps of Justice
This is the organization that took me to Cambodia for the first time, and I have also gone on a relief trip to the Philippines with them. Their goal is to do justice on step at a time. Oftetimes that step is using their prayer guide to open your eyes to what is going on in the world, and for some it's taking the step of going to Cambodia and opening up your world. They also directly support many ministries in Cambodia and do work throughout the world. The amount of good that has come out of this organization is incredible, so many have seen injustice through this and then moved on to stand up for the hurt, poor, and marginalized. 
Also, they recently started focussing largely on the refugee crisis by helping those who have recently been placed in California. If the refugee situation is on your heart as it is on mine, I strongly suggest getting behind what these guys are doing! 

International Rescue Committee
The refugee crisis is a huge deal right now, and these guys are doing great things for that community. I would encourage you to check out their resources and visit their New Roots garden if you are living in Arizona! Refugees come to our country with absolutely nothing to call their own, and this organizations helps them transition to live full lives in the land of the free. 

International Justice Mission
This is a huge organization, and the things they do have a huge impact throughout the world. They are unique in that they attack issues like slavery and corruption from the top down. They get involved with local governments and have an incredible team of lawyers that go after corruption from the top. Rather than freeing one slave, they arrest a brothel owner that "owns" hundreds of humans. 

World Vision
These guys do so much in the world. One of their big focusses is child sponsorship. For about a dollar a month you can sponsor a child, which will ensure they have food and other necessities. I personally sponsor an adorable little girl in Israel. They are great because you can write with your sponsor child and maintain a connection with them that is very rewarding. 

Paz De Cristo
ARIZONA folks, this is a great organization that feeds, clothes, and gives an upper-hand to the needy in the East Valley. They do great things in the community and could always use more volunteers! 

Feed My Starving Children
ARIZONA friends! Again, if you can't afford to give funds, give your time. This organization allows you to pack food that gets sent to hungry children all around the world (even in Cambodia). 

The Mocha Club
This organization recognizes that small amounts can make big changes. Their idea is that if you can give up a couple coffee's a month, you can do good in the world. See what their different projects are and how you can get behind them! 

Agape International Mission
There are not enough words to describe how amazing these guys are. They focus on child sex trafficking in Cambodia, it may seem like a niche, but the statistics and stories will blow you away. They have stood strong in changing the sex industry here in Cambodia through the years. Now, they even have their own SWAT team to raid brothels. If you are ready to have your heart broken, I would also encourage you to watch some of their documentaries.
